We are about to build a center first for Kingdom Christian Center. Second, the center will house the Development Center (TDC). TDC is a non-profit Washington corporation that promotes economic development in under-served urban areas. This work starts in Seattle. There TDC will bring contracts and jobs to African Americans. Over time, TDC will bring the same work to Tacoma, and to urban communities throughout the U.S. We are not new to this! This work started over 10 years ago. In 2008, Pastor Carl wrote Shoestrings & BOOTSTRAPS: a Development Plan for Black America. Then after the Great Recession,
Pastor Carl was moved to tears to start this work. Pastor Carl through a private vision in a public place (Starbucks on 23rd and Jackson in Seattle). In January of 2014, Pastor Carl partnered with the United Black Christian Clergy and the Seattle mayor to hold a development conference. He did it again in 2015. Day sessions for governmental officials were at Seattle Central College; evenings sessions to unite African American community groups were in the evening at New Hope Baptist Church.
We’ve been at this work for a while now. The Center we build will launch this work again.
